Legal enquiries, reports about content and data protection requests go to this address.
For everything else, whether a bug, a wish or a question about how something works, there is the form under send feedback. That is the faster route: what arrives there goes straight into the list that gets worked through.
State of the service
Maptale is in an open alpha. The service changes continuously; features may change or disappear, and there is no claim to constant availability. Uploaded tours and media are preserved to the best of our ability, but they do not replace your own backup of the original files.
Responsible for content under § 18 (2) MStV
Henrik Heil, address as above.
Liability for content
As a service provider we are responsible for our own content on these pages under general law. What users upload, meaning GPS recordings, photos, videos, titles, descriptions and audio tracks, remains their own responsibility. We are not obliged to monitor third-party information that is transmitted or stored. A tour is publicly visible only if its author explicitly sets it to "public" or "via the link"; the default is private.
If a tour that has been made public infringes rights, for instance in an image or in the personality rights of people shown, an email to the address above is enough. We will remove the content in question without delay.
Liability for links
These pages link to external websites whose content we have no influence over. The respective provider is always responsible for it. No legal violations were apparent at the time of linking; should we become aware of any, we will remove the link.
Copyright and map sources
The camera flights of Maptale are built on free and licensed map data. The sources are named in the application through the ⓘ button above the map, and they stay visible in exported recordings as well:
- Satellite imagery: Esri, Vantor, GeoEye, Earthstar Geographics, CNES/Airbus DS, USDA, USGS, AeroGRID, IGN, GIS User Community (Powered by Esri, via ArcGIS Location Platform)
- Terrain and elevation: Mapzen / AWS Open Data. Depending on the region, the elevation data combines these sources (attribution), each notice in its rights holder's wording:

The rights to uploaded photos, videos and recordings remain entirely with their authors. Maptale acquires no rights of its own in them and uses them solely to produce the tour and to play it back the way its author has set it. The Maptale brand, design, marks and software are protected by copyright.
Dispute resolution
We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG). The European Commission's online dispute resolution platform was discontinued in July 2025.
